While none of the competitors posted large bird scores, the 1998 |
| National proved to be one of the most exciting in recent years. This |
| Championship truly came down to the last brace and the last hour. A |
| number of dogs showed the stamina and conditioning to go the |
| marathon three hours resulting in solid performances that were of |
| championship quality. The winner emerged in Cedaroak Kate, a |
| young pointer female, handled by her fond owner Tom Honecker. |
